Type of a scam Phishing

Scammer sent mail about "available funds" for our recently bought house. We were unaware of what this could be so my fiancee called the toll free number given and spoke to Mike who was rude and condescending. He never actually asked but i assume he was running a scam to have us take a loan out against the equity of our house. When i called him back he was still rude and arrogant, boasting about his $500,000/ year salary and his $850,000 and $500,00 homes. I asked him where he was located but he wouldnt say, he finally said he worked for "FHA Loans" when i asked him what FHA stood for he said was unable to answer, thats when i knew for sure it was a scam.
