Type of a scam Government Grant

I heard about this from a friend and they received some money. At first, I did not know what this all entailed, went through some steps, and gave them my mailing address, phone #, email address,etc. They said that I qualified and that I would need to pay $550 for example in order to receive $50,000.00 that would be like Fed Exed or something. When I finally told them this was a scam and that I wished to decline then later they kept pressuring me and then their final text stated "We don’t have time for applicant like you."
