Type of a scam Credit Repair/Debt Relief

I received a voicemail saying that I could be forgiven of all my student loans and owe $0.00. They asked me a series of questions such as how much I make a year and the size of my household, but nothing too personal to alarm me. Then told me they would submit an application form to see if I was approved. They called me back 3 hours later claiming the application processed and I was approved for all my student loans to be paid off by the department of education. They emailed me a filled out form of all of my personal information that I didn’t even provide them such as my SSN and address!! Of course now they bring up a fee saying all I had to pay was a "remainder fee" of $599 or break the payment up in two. I claimed to be able to pay them by the weekend in order to stall time enough to get home and do research and freeze my accounts and credit reports since I had no idea how they accessed my information. After a while of calling around to find something out, I found out from a FAFSA Rep that all these people did was take the "INCOME-DRIVEN REPAYMENT (IDR) PLAN

REQUEST" form off of their website and tried to charge me for a service that is free to the public; which led me to believe they breached my FAFSA account as once I got off the phone I then saw an email hidden amongst all of my junk that an application was filled out on my account! I’m still concerned because that means they took all of my personal information off of my student loans account and my SSN is floating around now, but paying I can stop them before they try anything.
