Type of a scam Government Grant

They hacked my cousins facebook messenger to tell me about it. Then to try to convince me it was a great deal. She or he was convincing. She gave me the phone number to call to see if I was eligible. Of course I was after giving my name age address if I owned a home and car, my work and monthly income. I kept all text. They wanted 500 for 50000 grant or 1000 for 100000 grant. Once they receive payment you will receive grant on less than 24 hours.

The following information was recorded by a BBB staffer over the phone:

A woman called our public line to notify us about a suspicious call. The scammer claimed to represent the "federal government" and they offered her a $9,000 grant. The scammer claimed that they were calling her because she was one of the 1,500 randomly selected. The caller said she knew it was a scam right away because the scammer said she had to pay a fee to claim the grant. The fee amount was not disclosed by the scammer. The scammer has tried to call her three times.
