Type of a scam Government Grant

Was contacted by a number with no caller ID. They proceeded to give a confirmation number (***) and told me to call their manager as they were the only ones able to give the money. I was told I was awarded $10,200 for being a good citizen. I called the number given and the man (foreign) asked information about whether I was employed, what my zip code was, was I married, then asked how I wanted to receive my money. I said direct deposit and then gave my information, all before it dawned on me that this was probably a scam. After giving my information he told me to go to a money gram store and fill out something for $300.00. He said I would have a red and white slip of paper. We hung up but I called back to ask more questions for clarification. The more questions I asked the more agitated the man became. He said that his name was Robert Jones and that this phone number was his direct line but proceeded to tell me his extension number was 101. My wife called back and told him that we were not interested please get rid of our information. She had to repeat this multiple times as he was getting more agitated. Finally he said fine if that is what you want and hung up.
