Type of a scam Government Grant

Over 2-yrs calls from a "Federal Educational Grant Agency" in DC offering $9,000 non payable, free for personal use check but asked me to lie when a supervisor would call me to verify if I qualified. I was told to lie to the supervisor saying that no one has coached me or asked me to lie about any of the questions that the supervisor would be asking me information about my age, when I received my GED and to say that I plan to start college within the next 2-3 months.

Finally, I told him I thought they were asking me to commit fraud… the gentleman cursed out and slammed the phone.
