Type of a scam Advance Fee Loan
I went online to look for a company to get a loan from. I don’t remember the initial website I went on. But I got a call from ** *** @ phone number ***. They said I qualified for a $10,000 loan. They needed my banking information to be able to send me the payments and make sure that it was a “workable” account. I gave them my checking account number and they deposited 2 payments of $500.00 each. They told me to go to *** and send them 2 money grams, for me to send them 2 payments of $788.00 (with fees came out to 795.00 each).
I checked with my bank today, and they said there were two claims against my account, both for $500.00. So they called my bank, pretending to be me, trying to withdraw that $10,000.
Hopefully my bank will be able to trace where they are. The man I spoke to had a heavy Indian accent.
