Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I applied to for a work from home data entry position via Careerbuilder.com. I was contacted via email about an interview via Google Hangouts. I had online interview and was offered a position on offer on September 13th. That evening I received a check via email that I was asked to deposit to be used to purchase software and equipment that would be needed to begin the online training. Over the course of the next few days I received 3 additional checks via email and one via Fedex. After confirming that the funds were available I was asked to buy Itunes gift cards and send photos of the activation codes. I was also asked to use the funds to send money to vendors via Paypal and Western Union. I was also asked to purchase a computer via Amazon to be sent to a vendor in Texas that would be updating the computer with necessary software and apps. All of this was being done using the funds that were being approved by my bank. I was told that I should begin receiving equipment by Wednesday 9/17 and would be given a coach that would be training me online. They also sent me a company email that I was to activate. On 9/17 my bank alerted me that the checks deposited looked to be fraudulent and my account would be put on hold while they investigated. Because I still believed this to be a reputable company I contacted their HR department as well as the recruiting manager that I was working with and alerted her to the situation. At first, they were quick to get back to me with assurances that the situation would be rectified and I would be reimbursed if necessary. But by 9/20 I was no longer getting a response to my emails and the recruiting manager had blocked my email on Google Hangouts where we had been communicating. Since then my bank has confirmed that all of the checks were fraudulent and my account has been debited. At this point I will have lost a total of $***.
