I got a message from a cousin who I haven’t spoke to in some time now. We were never that close and last night she sent me a friend request on facebook messanger. I accepted and then she started telling me about this grant money that I could win by texting this number 530-288-7588 and telling them that I was interested. I did, and a few minutes later a person text me back saying he needed information from me and would let me know in minutes if I had won this grant money. His wording was a bit of as for my cousin. I never known her to have such poor language before. At the end they said I had won the money and that I would have to pay $400.00 for shipping for them to send me the check. I felt a fishy about the whole deal from the get go. I then asked my cousin who was trying to be so encouraging about getting me to do this, and the whole time. I thought why would she be getting a hold of my out of the blue like and be so quick to get me to do this, and with such poor wording in what she said. I then said sorry not interested and turned phone off and went to bed.

10/14/2020 Received supposed message from my cousin via Facebook Messenger. BS antennae activated. I haven’t known cousin to use Messenger. [censored] asked if I knew about DHHS Subvention. I replied “no” and checked Bing, where I saw this Scampulse page (thank you). My cousin is working and doesn’t need a grant and the verbage wasn’t her tone. [censored] sent a phone number for the agent that “helped” them. After I could not reach my cousin by phone, I asked [censored] a question about my cousin to which they responded incorrectly. I blocked account and reported it to Facebook. Messages were removed before I could take a screenshot.

I got a message from a friend on Instagram. I thought it was real because how could my Veteran friend scam me. They told me to send them $500 for the delivery fee. Then they said go to the store and buy ebay cards. That’s when I knew it was a scam.

I received a FaceBook message, supposedly from a friend. “She” said she just got money from the DHHS, and my name was on the list to be a beneficiary as well. There was some messages back & forth and I soon realized I wasn’t talking to my friend. I never called the number they gave me. These people are very aggressive in their attempt to fall for their scam. Wish there was a way to stop these people from trying to rob people of their money.

I received a FaceBook message, ostensibly from a friend. "She" said she just got money from the DHHS, and my name was on the list to be a beneficiary as well. The person at that number texted about being a FaceBook winner, not a QHHS beneficiary. I texted back my "friend," who gave me ANOTHER number to text. THIS "agent" used all caps and misspelled words. I did not share any info beyond my name. NOW I cannot reach any 800 numbers on my phone. I am trying to reach Consumer Cellular to report this.

A duplicate Facebook profile of an aunt messaged me asking for me to add her as a friend (I’m already friends with the real aunt) this one didn’t have any family but elderly friends of my aunt as friends. I just had a baby and they messaged me and it started off weird. Very sterile opening and then jumped straight into “i have good news for you Andrea, have you heard about the DHHS program yet?” Immediately i knew it was a scam so i said no. Then they sent me “DHHS, the department of health and human services, they are helping the working age,non working, retired, non retired, disabled, non disabled and old age in the community with cash did you get yours deliver to you yet?” With random capitalization. I asked if they were really Hulda, “yes i am, why do you ask” i laid out that i knew it was bull[censored] and that they weren’t and i told them I’d report them to the BBB. They responded with “yes i know i just want you too to benefit from this ongoing program, i got Trojan virus on my phone so it effect my Facebook page” so i said “oh in that case what’s the info, phone number and email?” And they provided the information above. I finally said that they must think I’m an absolute dunce to believe any of it and they blocked me. I know they have four or five of my aunts elderly friends on their friends list I’ve already messaged them letting them know it’s a scam. I don’t want anyone to be effected by scummy scammers.

As instructed I texted Lenwood Powell, the Attorney in charge at DHHS for the CGF. This is a difficult issue to discuss because I sent personal information to this individual via-text: full name, address, birth date, and even a copy of my driving license via-text. But, after receiving several messages and missed video chats through messenger with whom I was thought was a friend, I became suspicious. I ask the person "How do I know this is who you say you are? I’m a bit skeptical. The scammer replied, I don’t under why you are saying this”? He sent a long message explaining the criteria for the grant and stated that he forgot to mention the $500.00 eight-hour delivery (8) fee and shipping for the certificate so that the IRS would not try and tax the free grant. I text another reply, "This is beginning to appear to be a scam". They replied "This is a legitimate program". The scammer replied again with a long text. I did not reply. I was so disappointed in myself for falling for this scam artist scream.

I got a text from Attorney Thomas Andre with DHHS – Dept of Health & Human Services. His text said I was eligible for a $50,000 grant. He said I was chosen via a friend. He sent me a picture of my friend. the picture is my friend, but my friend is not involved in this. He wanted me to pay $600. I said I would give him $5. He said the least he could accept was $200. He told me to go to CVS and buy two Amazon gift cards for $100 each. I gave him my address. He asked if I was employed, my income, marital status, my gender, my mobile carrier, my email and a picture of my drivers license. I gave him all of that. He asked if I was deaf or hearing impaired. The texts appear to be coming from 321-999-8661. He asked how I would like to receive the grant, and I said cash.

We got an IM from our Facebook friend which said DHHS was awarding grants to individuals to pay bills, remodel house, help get out to poverty. It’s a government program. I was told that if I pay $650 for administrative fees I would receive $50,000. They tried to make it look official. He said the money would be sent to me by UPS. He continues to IM. I am on disability.
