I found a vacation home listing on craigs list and contacted the owner. He then asked me to contact him directly on the gmail address above. He asked us to wire half the rent plus a $700 deposit. The wire instructions were to a name different than who he said he was. I did some research and found the person he said he was was in fact the owner of the property he said he was renting out. some more flags, I asked him to call me and he didnt but when i called him I could hardly hear him and asked him to call me back and he didnt. I asked him to send me a copy of his drivers license which he didnt. He also said i could have the place as of 9am, no one rents that early in the day. We filled out his agreement where he never put in his address or phone number and when he signed his part said his scanner wasnt working so he couldnt send it to us. but was waiting for our $1300. I"m so glad we didnt fall prey but want to warn others. DO NOT fall prey to these scammers. They are stealing the identity of others.
