Type of a scam Phishing

They said I had been selected to receive over $14,000 in no strings attached money. All I had to do was give them my banking information and then go get a walmart debit card to get the money. They got very mad and said very nasty things when I called them out on it.

Type of a scam Phishing

I have received at least 10 calls from a person with very poor English claiming they are from The dept. of health and human services. They say they are updating their health insurance records. They have my name, address and birthdate and say each one to me asking me if it is correct. (I made the mistake of saying "yes" but now know I should not say that.) They have an incorrect birthdate and a nickname so I knew it was a scammer but continued just to see what they were up to. They asked what health insurance company I have. (I gave them a false one). They asked who my doctor is. I said none. They continued asking in several different ways for a doctors name or family physician. I said I have none and ended the phone call. Not sure but maybe they were going to try to bill my insurance company?

Caller with foreign accent asked if he could speak with (my first name only). My response was, "This is." He told me that he was from the Department of Health and Human Services and immediately asked, "How are you doing today?" I responded with, "I am doing well." And he then said, "Okay, thank you." And the man proceeded to hang up. I called the number back and received a message telling me that the number was not taking calls at this time. I am now being made aware that scammers are calling to ask irrelevant questions to get people to answer certain key words that are recorded and used to make demands on purchases. It sounds like these calls are made when they already have information on you such as credit card numbers and account information. I am unaware of what information of mine that they may have, but do know that my information was compromised with the equifax breach. I am going to have to keep a close eye on my accounts.

They call 20 + times a day stating they are from the Grants department of Health and Human Services. I didn’t let them pitch whatever they were trying to because I didn’t request or apply for any grants.
