Vendor offered to sell a pair of Siamese kittens, Bobo and Boo, for $750 + discounted shipping. Fortunately, my bank flagged the purchase attempt. Vendor then offered to let me use credit cards purchased through American Express to make the payment, a definite flag of a scam. Photos of kittens are adorable, but beware!

Type of a scam Online Purchase

I have been looking into buying a kitten and found this website with Siamese kittens for $400. The first indication that it was a scam is that the seller did not seem concerned with anything but receiving the payment. Next, 3 different names were used. One, Ruben Alpha, was used to initiate contact. Then, a woman’s name, Lashette Grant, was used for the account name for the payment request. When that didn’t work, yet another name was provided, Jeremy D. Conway. Another indicator that this was a scam is that no contract was offered in advance and no proof that I would actually be receiving the kitten I was supposedly purchasing. Last, I was given a shipping company name and when I looked it up, was informed by my browser security that someone was trying to fool me and may be trying to obtain personal information from me through the website (Sky Ship Logistics). I was lucky enough that the transactions did not go through and I smartened up to what was going on, but I do not want anyone else to fall into this trap.
