Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I received a check for $1,985.50 stating I had been selected to become the LEAD member of a 3 person team of their secret store evaporators assigned to evaluate a particular prepaid card store location in my area. The letter came with instructions as to how to complete the assignment. I was to be paid $400 for purchasing 3- $500 prepaid Vanilla Reload Network cards. Service charge was $85.50, which all amounts amounted to $1,985.50…NO ONE sends you free money but since I have been shopped working at a business before, I thought it might be the real deal. I first called the BBB but they had no record of the company, either good or bad, then I called the bank the check was drawn on to see if it was legitimate and if it was, to put a hold on that amount of money. I was instructed by the bank to send them a copy of the check which I did and got a phone call back from a bank manager. They agreed it was a scam and that even tho’ it looked like a real check, the signatures didn’t match their signature cards. Then the bank told me they were going to turn it over to their fraud department. While waiting for the banks call back I researched CSP online and found a company CSP. So I contacted them to let them know of the potential scam and one of the extensions to call was indeed for Survey/Evaluations… The company representative told me that this is an old scam and it hasn’t been used in a while but it must be starting out again. The only company’s that they service are Banks.
