Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I received a letter in the mail informing me that I had won a SUPERMARKET CUSTOMER SWEEDPSTAKES RAFFLE DRAW and that my prize was 880,000.00 and that they were enclosing a check for 8996.92 to cover the 7,796.00 processing fees i was instructed to call one of 3 numbers to verify my claim number which I never did i new right away it was a SCAM one because I hadn’t entered any contests and two i know you don’t have to pay money to collect money that you’ve supposedly won just wanted to warn others of this scam
