Type of a scam Employment

I was contacted by text then email from Justin Brennan/Convaxis Tech Systems from Canada. He offered employment making $5,000 per month. We had several telephone conversations regarding employment to let me know that this company was planning to open a new office located downtown my City/State. He sent me a cashier’s check in the amount of $5,000 to buy office supplies with $2,500 and the rest $2,500 was 2 weeks worth of employment. Then in 1 week, I was supposed to meet the leasing agent to this new office for the keys. I did receive the check within 5 days. When I went to the bank they said that it was a good check at the moment, but it could be fraudulent down the road because this company could be using someone else’s account number from a valid bank located in another City/State. Had I cashed it and it was fraudulent, my bank not only would have taken $5,000 from my account, but my accounts would of been flagged that I deposited a fraudalent check. When I responded to ask for his tax ID, he sent me a text that they were withdrawing my employment and canceled the check. I was about to resign from my current employment because at the time was looking for another employment until someone said not to. I wanted to confirm that it was a Scam, which I had proved it was. Be very careful with these type of businesses.
