I was looking for ragdoll websites. I wanted a kitten. I found coastalragdollkittens.com. The site had said they were having a 60% off and free shipping. They had pictures of kittens. I picked one I liked and pressed the buy now button. I got an email back stating that the kitten was still available. I emailed back stating that I wanted the kitten. So then I get an email back saying he wanted some info about me, I gave him my info of where I live my name, home address. Seemed like he wanted to know if I was a good person to take care of the kitten. Was all good. Then comes the payment process. To ensure delivery process. Went through most online payment apps, ( paypal, zelle, ). Nothing would go through. So the seller tells me to pay with Walmart gift cards. I had no idea about this. The seller explained to me how to do it. Buy the gift card, scratch off the pin# , take a picture and send back in a text. I had to do this quite a few times, over several days, because they kept coming up with reason for more money for vaccines for shipping of the kitten. They got 5k out of me. And I have no kitten and have not heard anything back from them. They would tell me the kitten would die, it was stressed blah blah. I believed it all. Even the seller offered to pay some because I had no money left to give them. But the seller couldn’t come up with it. This happened between April 16-25.

Type of a scam Online Purchase

Victim advised that they located a kitten for purchase at

Coastalragdollkittens.com. They negotiated via text and email a price of $750 for kitten. Victim sent fee to scammer via Zelle. Scammer then

demanded more money for shipping. Victim at that point realized she was being scammed. Website is obviously employing typical puppy

purchase scam. Scammer refused to process refund and stopped answering phone. Phone number appears to be spoofed. Website/business

is fraudulent in all manner.

I contacted Coastal Ragdoll Kittens about purchasing a kitten through their website. The kitten was advertised as being 60% off ($750) and they were offering free delivery yo my door within 48 hours. Upon submitting an inquiry about a specific kitten through the website’s contact page, I immediately received a call and text from a number in Florida regarding my inquiry.

When I called back the next day, I spoke with a man named Manny who explained the purchase and shipping process. His informality raised a flag, but it was supposedly a family run breeder, so I let it go. Later that day, he indicated that he had recieved an inquiry from another party about the kitten I was interested in, and wanted to know if I wanted to move forward. Against my better judgement, I proceeded with the purchase. Initially, I was instructed to submit payment through Zelle (to [email protected]), which I don’t use. I was then told that they also accept either Cash App or Apple Pay, but not PayPal. I used Apple Pay to send payment to a second number (2819019955) provided to me by Manny. The next day, I received an email from the shipping company, Hi-Ship, with a tracking number and but it indicated that I urgently needed to pay an additional $2000-2500 for a special crate to ship the kitten due to "unexpected weather conditions" and Covid19 so that the kitten could make its flight in an hour. This email did not have a proper sender, signature, or any company information – nothing like what an actual company email would look like. This email also indicated that I should make this payment using Apple Pay to the same number as the initial kitten purchase payment, but insisted that I would be reimbursed 98% upon delivery of the kitten. This finally made me suspicious enough to stop the process – apparently, I’m dumb, but not that dumb. Out of curiousity I did call the shipping company phone number which connected to someone who sounded suspiciously like Manny. At this point I contacted Manny to tell him that I was not comfortable making this payment, and asked for a refund d of the kitten purchase price. Suffice it to say, he was not happy and sent a long string of unpleasant text messages indicating I wouldn’t get anything. So much for their 100% money back guarantee.
