Type of a scam Employment

I applied to this company as they advertised a job in a different state. Come to find out they are no even located in my state. Didnt even speak to anyone on the phone regarding the position. They ended up sending me information to fill out for a background check and drug screen. Why would anyone send this personal info to any job if youve never even spoke with them and youre not even based in the same state?
