Type of a scam Debt Collections

Woke up today with a call from a lab called Clearview Diagnostics saying I owe them $12,000. A nightmare right? After a lot of phone calls and investigation on my part I found out that more than a year ago I went to get a free checkup at The Family Doctors. My wife and I called the manager of the office assuming this was a mistake. She got the lab to convert the fee charged to “in network.” Don’t know why it wasn’t in the first place when I was told it was by The Family Doctors. The lab dropped the charge to $300 and John says they will send me to collections if I don’t pay it. I called the manager of The Family Doctors, her name is Sherlyn Pendleton, and she said there is nothing they can do because Premier Summons bought the practice in 2018 after this happened. Not only she said she won’t do anything about this situation, she says their parent company won’t do anything either. She wouldn’t even give me her boss’ name. They don’t care about their patients and will throw them under the bus. My wife and I are obviously leaving this practice. Still, Clearview Diagnostics expects a $300 payment from me and no one can do anything about it. These people are scammers!
