Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

A letter and a printed check came in the mail, standard yellow envelope with usps label taped on it. The letter states this is for a mystery shop at Walmart. They want the us to deposit the check into our bank account. Then text a specified phrase to their phone. Then, immediately open your online banking app and check your balance to “make sure the funds have been deposited.” The letter instructs me to take a $300 salary for myself. The letter also states that after this mystery shop report is submitted, we will receive instructions on the next “assignment.”
