Scammer pretended to be HR manager of Cisco System Inc. The job posting was listed on careerbuilder.com. I was first contacted via email. Interview took place over Hangout. Once I signed and returned the offer letter, I was asked to deposit checks and transfer funds through different channels on different days to purchase the materials to start this remote work. Scammer pretend to be the delivery person to keep me updated with the delivery status. Few days later, as my bank notified me about the pending returned checks, that was the time I realized that I was scammed.

I received an email from [email protected] claiming to be part of Cisco Systems INC. They told me to contact the hiring manager whose email is hr.cis[email protected] After the interview I was offered the remote job they emailed me documents to sign and I signed them and returned them back including all personal information and social security number and passport number and a picture of my ID. I received documents from [email protected] which seemed legit to me. They mailed out a startup check to buy “materials” for the remote job. I received the check and deposited it. I had doubts when the check took long to deposit, I did some research and discovered that many people get scammed with “remote” job offers because they are mailed a check to deposit in their account. I called my bank and told them they stopped my account to see if the check will clear up or not. The next day I checked my bank account and the check was a fake and they charged me a fee.

I received and initial email of an opportunity through my school email that asked me to send in my phone number and email and a resume. I did so and got a reply email that gave a job description and said I would be paid $400 a week for minimal work that was 6-8 hours a week. They asked me to send a reply email with my physical address, city, state, zip code, D.O.B, and current job. Looking back, I can’t believe how stupid I was to comply and give them the information. I received an email the next day telling me I had been approved for the job but they wouldn’t be able to contact a one on one interview. They told me they would mail me the $400 by check or money order and it would cover my start up wages for doing the job. They wanted me to reply immediately to the email. This raised a big red flag to me, and I reported it to the FTC and to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center. I’m now reporting it to BBB, and I will probably report this to the police (especially if money is sent to me). I know not to cash any money/check that they might send to me. I have not replied to the last email, and I have not received any contact from them via my phone or personal email they were given.

My friend received an email titled "UMBC Job Offer," which she then forwarded it to me. The person sending the email is named "Richard Lonnie," and the email address was [email protected], and he claimed to be the HR manager from Cisco Systems, offering a job position. We were asked to provide name, address, d.o.b., mobile number, and gender. After this, I started receiving texts from several numbers, claiming to be the same person. The numbers are : 410-449-4482, 931-263-6940, and 530-431-8598. I received a check in the mail, from Banner Health, and then Richard Lonnie texted me saying to deposit this check and send screenshot evidence of doing so. He keeps texting even after I stopped replying. After this, I blocked all numbers. I hope they do not contact me again from any other numbers.

I was contacted thru my emial but was verified as a student, which I just completed a semester of college, I assumed it was legit maybe sent from the finacial aide office. The email basically stated that they were looking for students to do some work to help them by purchasing supplies for their office workers. The pay was $400 a week and they would send the money to cover the expenses and the payroll.The 1st email stated to respond if interested the 2nd email stated to reply with your info the 3rd said that they were overwhelmed with responses and couldnt conduct an actual interview but that I got the position. I didn’t hear anything for about a week and then I reahced out via the email and I received a response that stated they would resoond before the end of the week, I recieved a text from 323-332-0875 that said to reply and continued to text me with tracking info on a package. I received a check for $1,850 and was told to deposit it in my bank account. I proceeded to do so and was informed by a check csshing institution that the check was fraudulent. I tried to call and text and email that number but did not get a response

They will send you a check in advance of your employment for over a $1000. This company is using a fake address because the address is listed for an insurance company that has been open for business for over 60 years.
