Type of a scam Employment

I filled out an application to become a mystery shopper, I then received a email stating I would receive a check via UPS. I did receive a check and then the phone calls started from a man with a African accent requesting me to deposit check in my bank account,I stated I haven’t done any work, he states it’s ok. He wanted me to deposit the check first, that was his main focus. Total scam, also I got text messages late at night concerning this check so I told whomever was behind the text messages I would not be harassed.
