Type of a scam Credit Cards

I have not applied for a Capital One credit card recently. When I called the 800 number listed on this letter they told me that somebody had applied for a credit card using my information, when I asked when they applied and if the card had been mailed out, they asked for the last 4 digits of my social security which I did not provide. This is definitely a fraud issue, my name is not Miriam T Machado, I do not have a middle name. Please advise.
