On Friday, July 28, 2017, I was contacted by Twin Cities Brokerage, LLC from Minneapolis, MN. They told me someone wanted to rent my timeshare for $6,000 a week for 10 weeks, plus $1,800 a week for maintenance costs. A few days later, a rep from Candlelight Escrow Services in Independence, MO, called to tell me that $60,000 plus $18,000 was in escrow awaiting me to sign a contract for payment. When I read the contract, it stated that I needed to pay $4,200 as commission to Twin Cities Brokerage, and then I would get my money. I told them to just deduct it from the check (because clearly this is a scam). The escrow company told me that can’t do that. I located the address of the escrow company and it was a single family home in Independence. I contacted the home owner, who stated that he was the owner of Candlelight Escrow but knows nothing about my transaction or the individual who contacted me. The next day, I called the Escrow company and asked for the "owner" by name and was told that he is the legal representative and rarely comes into the office. I have also been able to prove that a website for "St. Louis Title and Escrow" is the same website verbiage as Candlelight. When I contacted another office in the same building as "St. Louis Title and Escrow", I was told that that company doesn’t exist and that it was a fraud/scam. She said she was to instruct people to contact the BBB. I have names, addresses and additional information that would be important for an investigation. I will also be forwarding this information to the District Attorney.
