At approximately 11:00 am the phone rang and a recorded voice said "This is a recorded line, can you hear me"?

My husband said said yes. The call was then ended by the automated caller.

We then realized that it was a scam caller using a "local" phone number.

Caller ID said 518-217-4213

The person was a female and said in a pleasant voice (regular American accent), “We are calling you because of a job you recently applied for. You are on a recorded line. Can you hear me?” And then when I said, “Yes,” the call ended. It was a nearby town’s area code, so I thought it was a work call and answered it.

This number called me and it was a recording, asking if I could hear them. I said Yes. I know there’s already a scam going around about this and now I said yes. I’m not sure what to do so I wanted to report it right away. I have not been scammed out of money yet but If I am I will report that as well.

Scammer called cell phone and asked if this is "(my name)". I said "Yes" and they hung up. Immediately, I was concerned that I had answered ‘yes’ to a scam caller that would use my recorded ‘yes’ for what is known as "cramming" – using it to authorize charges. Besides that they immediately hung up, a clue was that they said my full first name, which it not used by people that know me. The caller ID number that they supposedly called from was 585-312-1847 at 2:06PM on Tue., 6/19/18 (today). It could be a "spoof" number (not the real number they are calling from). A suggestion to others that receive calls like this asking a question – do NOT say ‘yes’, but say something like "What is the reason for your call". As suggested, we will now have to closely monitor our bills, credit cards, and bank accounts for charges that are not ours.

I received a call on my cell phone and the person stated that they were calling regarding a job that I had recently applied for. It sounded like a recording but did ask " Can you hear me?" twice. I tried calling the number back from a landline and I get a recording stating that all customer service reps are busy but gave the email above which I googled and see that it is a credit fraud scam.

Answered phone re unk number, was distracted waiting for call from son. Lots of noise in phone background. Woman hesitated, asked if I could hear her after she’d acted like she couldn’t hear me. I answered "yes," and she said she’d call back when she had better connection, hung up on me.

The caller asked if I was (and said my name), when I said yes, he hung up. It was a suspicious interaction. I researched this and found scammers want to get you to say yes on the phone so they can use it as authorization for purchases.

I have received multiple phone calls from multiple numbers in tge same area code (315) from these numbers all (315)232-0055-Adams NY, 232-0018 Adams, NY, 287-6949, 386-0007, 232-0116, 937-2053…and there are several more. I am tormented by these fools. They call claiming to be disability insurance (but it varies) and say it’s a recorded line can you hear me then if you say yes they hang up. They call every day multiple times from different numbers sometimes they use the same ones. My advice, if you don’t know the number, don’t answer it!
