On numerous occasions over the last several months, I was called by people (mostly men, but also one woman) with heavy accents claiming to be from Microsoft. I was told that Microsoft was aware of a problem with my computer that they were going to help me fix. In each case, I immediately disconnected the call without letting the caller complete their pitch.

Eventually I learned there are call blocking apps for cell phones so I could block such scam calls. I downloaded one of these apps, added the scammers’ phone numbers, and no further "Microsoft" scam calls have gotten through to me since.
