Type of a scam Debt Collections

I received a debt collections letter via USPS stating that their services had been retained by a radiologist (that I had actually recently seen) to collect a delinquent account balance of $75. I had just received the statement from the radiologist a couple of days before; the balance didn’t match what the debt collector was trying to collect and the due date listed from the radiologist was 2/9/2020 (writing this 1/28). I contacted the office directly and they confirmed that my account had NOT been turned over to collections, nor did I have any older charges pending.
