Type of a scam Employment
I was contacted by this company for employment as a photographer. They promised a nice payment for my work and help in buying equipment they required. I thought it was a bit odd so I asked how they found me. They said LinkedIn.
It was odd, but I decided to see what was going on. And went through with an interview. They asked for references, and I gave them quickly. None of the references were contacted but I was still told I had the job.
I filled out the paperwork, but told them I would fill out the I-9 and W-4 because it was required by law that I put it in. They wanted my SS number by email.
They asked when I was going to buy an iPad, so I bought one on the promise that they would reimburse me. The reimbursement didn’t come and then they asked me to mail the iPad to them. I told them I would after I was reimbursed.
They said they would give me the money right now, if I gave them my name and password to my bank account. I said no, and a direct deposit would do. They then chewed me out for not following protocol and that I was fired. I lost the moment it cost to sign up for the iPad.
