Type of a scam Employment

They said they got my name from Indeed and gave me an interview over Google’s What’s App. They said they would hire me to start working the next day for $25/hour. They contacted me the next morning through IM to get started.

When they contacted me they said it would be another day and they would send me money for the software, etc.

Today, FedEx showed up with 2 checks. Each check was $4800. I asked them what all of this money was for and they said for software. They pushed to see when I could get to my bank. I knew this was shady and I told them that I couldn’t get to my bank. I told them it snowed here and asked where they were. They said South Carolina. They kept pushing about my bank. I told them that I deposited it and they told me to send them the bank slip to prove it. I did not do anything with the checks. I was testing them to see what their answer would be. I told them my bank doesn’t do it that way and they said they would just cancel the checks. Then I didn’t hear another word from them.
