Type of a scam Tech Support

They scammed me. I thought I was talking to an Apple technician. The person I was talking with told me that this company had a contract with Apple. They charged me $139 to clean up a virus, which I now suspect they put on the computer. They told me if I took the computer to Apple it would cost me $600 to get the virus cleaned up. I was suspicious, but this is a big desktop Mac that I didn’t want to lug into the Apple Store, so I gave them the money. They tried to sell me a "lifetime protection" contract for $500, but I declined. When they were done, I kept getting notifications about a virus being found and disabled about every 5 minutes. And their pngage kept popping up. That was better than notices saying I had the virus, but it was annoying. THe next day they called me to ask if I was satisfied with their service. I told them my complaints, and they "fixed" it. But they installed ad blockers instead of fixing the problem, and so when I tried to watch a tv show online, I wasn’t able to do it because of the ad blockers. I went in and disabled the ad blockers, but I still couldn’t watch the show because the ads wouldn’t load. They did not tell me they were installing ad blockers; they are patronizing and don’t tell me what they are doing. I am definitely not going to let them do anything else on my computer, and I’ll lug it into Apple to get it straightened out. It was a $139 mistake.
