Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes
I received a message through Messenger from a FB friend that I know personally. She said she had won $30,000 from a FB promotion. I questioned her as to the legitimacy of this "scam" & warned her about such scams. She assured me it was not a scam & that she had actually received the money. She said my name was also on the winners list & she sent me the link (above).
Her FB PROFILE was on the message so I used the link which took me to Brian Wells Wilson & asked me to "wave" at Brian & from there he contacted me & said I was a winner & to fill out a form that asked for name, address, email, age, occupation & monthly income. No other personal info. I gave the info asked for & received instructions with ref #, batch#, winning#, & ticket #. Told to keep this info strictly confidential. Also included a "AFFIDAVIT OF CLAIM. "
Told that there was $600 delivery fee and case file fee. I would receive the $30,000 within 6 hrs.
At this point I called the local RCMP detachment ro see if they were aware of this scam in the area. They were not but suggested I phone the FB friend that originally sent the message. I did so & of course she was not aware of anything so she had been hacked & I as well.
I replied to "Brian" that I had contacted our RCMP FRAUD division about their scam, & notified all my FB friends . I was immediately blocked on "Brian’s" message acct.
