Type of a scam Online Purchase

I contacted 3 online websites yesterday to purchase a Maltese puppy. I filled out the online application on each site and spoke live to a person that sounded the same but has 3 different phone numbers: (256-269-3323,) (202-994-5496) & 302-595-5118. I was asked to wire a money order from my credit card to to Western Union and to make sure to select "Cash at Western Union store location. I quickly new this was a scam and advised them I would be contacting the BBB-I received several threating text messages stating that the person would find me and cut my legs off. I have since reported to the Chandler, AZ police department
