Total money lost $49

Type of a scam Vanity Award Scam

BEWARE:

I received an email from [email protected] regarding winning a Best of the Best Insurance Agent 2020". Thinking i had won a local contest I was nominated for, I followed the link and created a profile and signed up for their program that included National recognition, a press release, SEO service, etc… ($299.99 per year or $49.00 per month) I received a digital certificate, Press release, and some social media badges. Though the certificate stated Best insurance Agent, but did not disclose any location, nor was there any signature on the press release.

After speaking with a friend nominated for the same contest (Different business) he informed me that the contest was still ongoing. After researching more on the business issuing the award, I found minimal info. I was able to find info on the email address stating it was in fact a scam with 101 website attacks. I had not been following the local contest, so I figured this was the same award I was nominated for, which is how I fell victim.

No phone number is listed in their contact info on the site, so I emailed Rich (my point of contact at best awards) to ask how exactly I won the award since I had not entered any contests, and he told me he was checking with his nomination team. That was 2 days ago and I have not heard back from him since. I have since made a record of my purchase
