Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I received a message from a friend in LinkedIn about an opportunity to become a professional shopper with a research company. It looks very easy so I applied though the link. I check the company and it appears legit. They accepted my application and within a few days I got a a cashier check of $***. That covered my $*** pay and the rest was to be used for my assignments. The person sending me the email was Thomas Watt, Recruiting Department of Forum Research Inc®

I got suspicions when I realized the guy had an yahoo account. The check is from Regions Bank and the envelop says it was sent by Berns Co , 1250 W 17th St., Long Beach CA 90813 – I check the company and it looks like the company exists.

Below is what I am supposed to do:

Assignment 1

1. Proceed to a nearby Gap store or any clothing store and purchase anything with $**,the purchase item will be kept by you because it is yours.

2. Attached to this email is a customer feedback form which you are required to fill out and email back to us.

3. Deduct $*** as your weekly commission,your logistics and gift cards charges fee.

4. Purchase ($*** x ** pieces = $*** ) iTUNES Gift card.

N:B…You can only purchase max of 5($100 denomination) gift cards from each of the store.

Note: ITUNES GIFT CARD can be purchased with cash, with your debit or credit card.

The cards will be used to fund further projects/research, eliminating the need to post you checks for future assignments.

After purchase of the cards,

"iTUNES Gift card" Open the pack, remove the label in front of the cards and peel or gently scratch off the label on the back of the gift cards to reveal the hidden code, take CLEAR and BOLD images of the scratched cards, and email them to us (Phone camera accepted)

The cards can be purchased from most convenience stores and gas station. Below are the nearest location
