Someone called and at first represented that she was from Benson Associates. She stated she was calling me to notify me of pending litigation. I asked what this was in reference to. She told me I would have to call them bc she was a notifier and I would have to call them directly. She stated they had sent me documentation in the mail and I had not responded. I explained I had not received anything from them and that she should have them send me documents via certified mail. She continued to rattle on and stated that I would ha e to call them. I explained with all the scams I did not feel comfortable calling them. I kept repeating myself, then finally I said let me get a piece of paper and a pen. Needless to say she hung up. When I googled them I found this site. Oh by the way, the caller ID cami up unknown number. This is definitely a scam!

Type of a scam Debt Collections

Benson and Associates called me on 8-21-20 and left a voicemail. I called them back at 877-370-0675 as they suggested. During the call they told me that they were calling regarding a lawsuit that was coming up on me and my husband and a lien was going to be placed on our home due to a debt of over $12,000 owed to US Bank that we paid off, as a settlement when my husband lost his job in 2009. They also said my name was involved, which is inaccurate. My husband had that credit card before we ever even met. We’ve never received anything regarding this since the day we paid it off. Our credit scores are, and have been back in the 800’s for several years now. I’m not sure why all of the sudden we are hearing from this company regarding an 11 year old issue that was paid as agreed. But them threatening us that we would have a lien and/or wage/bank garnishment is unacceptable. I’m also concerned that they had the full credit card account number, our address, phone number, and at least the last 4 of his social security number. I believe this to be a scam and I’d like this to be further investigated.
