my son and I applied at beck with place apartments in grand rapids,michigan, 1359 dewberry pine 49505. They said they had to do a back ground check and charged us 40 dollars each and they failed to tell us in writing or verbally that hey do not accept people who have ever had a felon even if it was 30 yrs ago and was non-sense an non-violent driving felon that happened 30 yrs ago. They did not tell us that or give us any information in writing about that. they then took are money and said sorry but you have a felony and there is no way anyone with a felony can live here. Then the next week we heard that a bunch of people were shot on there property by a person who lived there who is a felon. how many people have they not disclosed this very important information to before they applied to beckwith place apartments. That is something that should be definitely told to the person who wants to rent so they won’t lose their money. They don’t tell you that they absolutely do not accept felons before they take your 40 dollars and after they take the money then they tell you . something doesn’t seem fair about that. How much money have they made doing this scam for the owner named steve nicolas . They are keeping the money after they take it from the people who are innocent. don’t shy by law have to give yo something in writing telling you the reasons why you won’t be accepted or before they take you money. They keep that totally a secret they act like you are accepted and tell you all you have to do now is pay a 40 dollar fee for a background check. they never told us in anyway or form that they did not or will not accept a felon by any circumstances . so they stole 40 bucks from us and we don’t have a place to live.They should have to ask you if anyone has a felon because if they do you will not be accepted but they tell yo this after they take your money and do the background check. if we knew that they won’t accept any felons no matter the circumstances before they run the background check then the person who is already poor and needs the money would not lose it because he would know that he would not be accepted and not pay 40 dollars to do the check.That is why they don’t tell you so they can make a easy 40 dollars off of you . they could do this to 8 people in one day by not telling them they don’t accept felons and make an easy 320 tax free money. that is a week of pay for some people . I also heard he doesn’t declare that income on his tax forms so they could be making money of felons for over 25 yrs or more and never paid a dime of tax money on the crooked money they are stealing from felons.
