Be careful when applying to positions advertised on LinkedIn, Indeed, etc. during your job hunt. While some of those "Marketing Coordinator" or "Communications Coordinator" positions may sound alluring, and you may well be qualified for those positions, the path only leads to the deadest of dead ends.

You will be h o u n d e d by someone claiming to be an "HR Director" or some-such title, raving about your qualifications and impressive skills. They are certainly not calling on behalf of the company you applied to, and definitely not interviewing for the position advertised. What they actually want to do is dupe you, or attempt to dupe you, into leaving your current position and take up a life in a pyramid scheme selling garbage door-to-door to unsuspecting folks.

No benefits. No base-pay. 60+ hours a week selling office supplies or cable subscriptions from your car, all under the guise of "training" or "team building" in the field. You are only paid if you make a sale, and then the commission is minimal.

They’re very active in the Grand Rapids area as-of 04/28/17.

Beware. Clearly preying on unsuspecting, hopeful job-seekers anxious for any lead to a better career. This certainly isn’t it. Stay far away, especially those with children or compromised health.
