Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I was offered an advertising job to let Dr Pepper put their decal on my car for three months and get paid $600 a month. I was getting emails from a man who called himself Robert Williams and getting texts from a man who called himself Mr Frances Adams said he was the financial Secretary from Dr Pepper. When I agreed to let them put the decal on my car for $600 a month, Both men quickly decided they would send me a $3840.57 Check in advance. When i told them they would be sending me to much, Mr Adams told me that the check would be for $3840.57 and as soon as i get the check $1000 was going to me, to pay me for only 2 weeks at $500 per week. he said the rest of the money he wanted me to send it to his specialist by cash or money order. He said to make sure i go to my bank and not a check cashing company. he said once I cash the check to quickly call him at 202-846-8490 and send an email to [email protected] ..I have the check in hand for $ 3840.57 and of course im not cashing it. I let Robert Williams know i would not be cashing the check and that my husband shredded thje check, I guess he forgot and sent me a new email saying the decal installment was going to be rescheduled… I have not replied.
