I was locked out of my house just before hosting a party and called Austin Locksmith 24. I asked the cost of a residential lock-out and they said it was a $10 service charge and residential lock-outs started at $25. The guy shows up and explains that he is probably going to have to drill the lock to get in, and that it will be $279. After I signed the invoice, the guy opens the lock without drilling and said it will still be $279 for opening the door. He also said he would fix and lubricate the faulty lock, but the lock no longer works. The locksmith intentionally deceived me regarding the cost of opening the door, and now I have to replace my lock. It was only after I had time to do some more research that I discovered Austin Locksmith 24 is one of the fake online locksmiths described by this NY Times article: https://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/31/business/fake-online-locksmiths-may-be-out-to… Consumers beware this scam. Because Austin Locksmith 24 does not provide an address on Google, it’s not possible to leave a review for others to see before calling this scam.
