Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I received an email I thought was from Walgreens asking me to become a “secret shopper”, purchasing specific items then reporting to the company about the stores, clerks, and products. Within 2 weeks of signing up, I was sent a legitimate-looking check from SunTrust, along with directions on how to proceed. I was to deposit the check of $1980.00, then ise the money to “buy” gift cards from stores such as Walgreens, Wal-Mart, and CVS. After purchasing the gift cards, I was instructed to scratch off the back of each card, take a photo of the numbers, then text the photos to the phone number provided. I was to keep the extra money as “payment”.
