I received a check in the amount of $2,950.00 drawn on Community First Credit Union, P O Box 1487, Appleton, WI 54912

signed by Catherine j Tierney RE; Nancy Cummings

The letter was for Apple Store Secret Shopper. I was to text the receipt of the check, and then deposit the check and text them when this was done so they could "release" the funds. My assignment was to purchase two gift certificates, scratch the number off and then send it to the text address, along with the survey address. Once gift certificate was to be for $2,000 and one for $600.

The letter was on a cheap copy of Apple letterhead.

Today, February 9, 2018, I have received 6 calls on my landline of what appears to be calls from Apple Inc. with the actual phone number of Bridgewater Apple Store in NJ. I did not answer the first call but they left an automated message stating " Technical Support This call is regarding security breach detected in your ICloud account before. Using any of your Apple device we strongly recommend you to talk to Support Advisor. If you wish to talk to a Support Advisor right now please press 1. If you wish to hang up press 2. The other 4 calls with messages left were similar except the caller left her name as Molly. I answer the call the 2nd time they called and she told me someone overseas was trying to breach our IP address that I needed to secure our financial and banking accounts. I asked her what was I supposed to do and she stated you have 2 options, we can help you over the phone or you can take your computer to the store. I asked her where she was calling from and she stated California. However, a 908 area code is in NJ. I called the phone number back and it actually goes to the Bridgewater Apple Store. I spoke to someone in their technical dept. and she said they do not make calls to customers. I told her I just wanted to let someone there know this is going on out here even though when you call their # they say they are aware of it. I wasn’t though. The scammers are appearing to be from Apple and no one would ever know by the physical appearance, caller ID, that they are not.

I have received at least 5 calls from Apple inc claiming my iCloud account with Apple has been hacked and a virus implanted. Apple inc was asking for log in info and passwords each time. Did not respond just hung up.
