Type of a scam Phishing

The individuals I spoke with at the aforementioned telephone numbers are acting like Apple customer service and fraudulently conducting warranty claims for customers with damaged phones. They ask the individual to invest in an iTunes card of $100 as a “security deposit” before the order is completed and the new phone is issued. Fortunately, I used a gift-card from work and the card is not associated with me in anyway, so they could not successfully glean vital information from me. After I made the purchase and gave them the activation code as instructed, they requested that I invest more money into iTunes cards for a successful order because I guess my purchase was with the gift-card. The people I spoke with spoke poor English, I’m not certain of their country of origin or where they are located. However, both phone numbers are still active as of 9/23/17 3:11 am CST.
