Type of a scam Debt Collections

This company called me on my phone claiming they just purchased a debit fora hospital bill from 2007 for$1200 dollars, now it is $4700. He then said he sees that i have a credit card with capital one with a credit limit of $1200 and he will charge on my card. I told him that he can not collect on a debt from that long ago and he said because he just purchased it he can. He then said he could see i had a loan for my truck(knew make and model bank and amount) and that he would slap a lien on that. Claims he has sent out demand letters to me(which i have never received any thing) called and left my mother a message. When i got off the phone i cancelled my credit card, called my bank and checked my credit report(nothing on my report)
