Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I was looking for a job on Craig’s list in Tampa bay, I came across an ad for wrapping your car or truck for $800 a month from rockstar energy drinks.i gave the ad my information and today March 5th I was sent instructions and a check for 3,650.00 to deposit in my checking account, I decided to call the company who wrote the check and they told me it was fraud not to cash the check so please if anyone recives a check call that company first or you could be out of a lot of money.
