Type of a scam Employment

I applied to a Public Relations position with a lawfirm. When they called and asked for an interview, they asked me what I would like as pay. I told them and they guy on the phone said "we can definitely do that." I tried calling that same number again to switch the interview times but nobody ever answered again. I went to the interview. There were maybe 15 candidates interviewing for a "public relations" position. The name of the company was not a law firm, it was a life insurance company. I met with a manager who made me feel very uncomfortable. He told me he liked me (even though I have no sales or representative experience). I had to do a personality test packet and sit in a room with other candidates. The GM of the branch basically put on a sales pitch about why we should work for them. This went on for an hour. After the interview, they called me saying they wanted me for a final interview. Keep in mind, they said they would only choose 5 of the 15 people they interviewed. I asked the guy on the phone "What is the guaranteed base pay?" He said "Nothing in life is guaranteed." So I told him I was no longer interested.
