Type of a scam Employment

Applied to multiple security jobs on indeed, mostly private residential and G4S, Garda (big names) etc.

I received a phone call from an "Ali Johnson", who offered me an executive protection job for $42 an hour, he asked to set up an appt for 10 am the following day, and that there was no other day I could schedule.

I called him back confirming the appointment, he said I need my ID, SS card, and $500 cash to cover expenses for training of the job. I am not from NYC so I figured it wasnt a big deal, but because he said cash, it was a red flag. I looked up the business online and couldnt find it anywhere. I dug for an hour trying to find info on it until I called the building itself.

Thats when I got the full name, instead of AFA Security. I looked up reviews for AFA in newark and it showed the same issues, people were promised a job, and paid a deposit for training that they never got. I called Ali back and asked for the interviewers full name which he stammered to get, he just said "Mr Jimenez"

I asked for his full name and title. Ali put me on hold for 2 minutes and came back and said "Jeff Jimenez, Manager"

I asked, Manager of what? HR, Training, Recruitment. Ali couldnt answer. I could hear his voice quivering and I confirmed on my own, it was a scam. I was about to take a day off, drive into the city, and get scammed out of 500 dollars by wannabe cops. If it was an offer for SORA certifications for NYC, I wouldve totally went through with it, but to be dishonest about employment, and screw people out of money, during a pandemic, AFA is lucky they dont have a lawsuit against them. I cancelled my appointment.

Now I have begun to get bombarded with calls from realty companies and warranty departments.
