Type of a scam Identity Theft

April 21, 2020 an individual reached out to a co-worker in my office impersonating me to request a direct deposit authorization change. I was out of the office due to Covid-19 and my state shutdown. This individual filled out the HR forms to authorize their bank- American Express National Bank (via Bluebird) and sent a copy of a voided check from this bank with my name- a different address and the new banking information. My boss forwarded the completed paperwork to our payroll company- but ended up calling me to confirm the information and I was able to halt the change. I looked up the routing number on the voided check and found it to be American Express National Bank- headquartered in Utah. The phone number for Utah 801-945-6569 is not correct and directs you to another phone number 602-537-8500- this number put me on hold for 8 minutes and then hung up. I have reported this fraud to Identitytheft.gov (a federal resource) and to my state banking regulation board and now here. I am still trying to get in contact with this banking institution. I did see one website from 2013-2015 with several complaints about exactly what is happening to me- people changing direct deposits for employment and tax returns! It is obvious this bank is a platform for fraudulent and criminal activity.
