Type of a scam Family/Friend Emergency

My elderly parents received a call from 289-776-7013 by a person purporting to be an attorney in Jacksonville, FL and supposedly his grandson. He told them their grandson was in jail with a broken nose. Details were that he was at a bachelor party and was driving a rental car while impaired. One of the passengers had cocaine, but only the grandson was being held. He told my parents they need to send $20,000 in cash via FED Ex in order to post the bail. He specified that the money was to be divided up in to several envelopes and then placed inside magazine of 100 pages or more. My father who is a WWII, Korean and Viet Nam war vet has bad hearing due to his years in combat and he assumed he was indeed talking to his grandson. He was about to go get the money but my Mom (his wife) contacted me and we discovered that the grandson was fine, and on duty at his base (in TN not Florida). No money was sent, but my parents were put through needless grief and stress. They both have heart conditions and this fraud could have aggravated their health.
