Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I received a check in the mail from AIG Trust Financial Services. There was a letter enclosed as well stating I had won $250,000.00. The letter instructed me to call my claim agent who is John Lucas at: 1-800-774-3950 to claim my prize and activate the check. The check is very official looking and has the bank’s name on it: AIG Federal Savings Bank, P.O. Box 2425, Houston, TX 77252-2425. I brought the check to my bank and was told that although it looks very official, it is not real. The check is for $3,950.00 and is suppose to pay for fees to claim my prize.
