Afni sent me a collection notice for Comcast as a creditor for the amount of $1,665.36. They asked that I write on the form my credit card information to make this payment and mail it back to them. As I have never had an account with Comcast this was beyond suspicious. To make sure I wasn’t completely crazy I called comcast and they looked up my name, all my previous addresses, and my contact information and had no record of me ever having a Comcast account. I then called the number listed for Afni and they refused to look into the situation without providing my social security number. As an additional measure I checked my credit score and report and found that there were no derogatory or accounts owed and my credit score has recently gone up 25+ points. Which would not be happening if I was being contacted by an collection company.

I recently received a letter in the mail stating that I owe 874. I called Afni and they (linx was his name) claimed that they work with progressive and they reach out to collect debt. It sounded weird but they had information regarding a recent car accident. I asked why haven’t progressive called me and they said that they reach out to people on their behalf. He immediately saying I owe money and will take whatever form of payment. When I told him I didn’t have it and can we set up a payment plan and he said he could only do two payments. I said I can’t do it in two it needs to at least be four or five payments and he said okay that will be fine? I was confused because how can you change that quickly if you just said you could only do two payments. He said they’ll suspend my license if I don’t make a payment by the 31st. I called progressive to double check if this notice was legit and they’ve informed me that it wasn’t.

I received a phone call from someone who identified themselves as a debt collector and that the call was being recorded. They had a supposed debt from a previous lease thru VW … I continued to ask for a paper bill but he only kept saying I could pay it with a credit card. Initially sounded legit, but definitely a scam as he would not provide me any information. He continued to bring up – they are a ScamPulse.com accredited business.
