Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I applied for a customer service job on Indeed then received an email that I have a follow up interview and was advised to download telegram and to speak to a Cindy William the Human Resource manager. After completing the interview I was told that I was accepted for the job and would need to purchase a few softwares which a check will be sent to me to purchase the software, a check was mailed out to me on March 21, 2020 by Fedex at 10:30AM. The amount on the check is for $8,900.00 which I found to be very alarming and decided to call the company Hal hay construction to find out if a Cindy William works in Human Resource and was told that it’s a scam as no Cindy William works there.
